Twitter is Distracting You From Making Money
“Sysomos, research shows that 71% of all tweets produce no reaction — in the form of replies or retweets — which suggests that an overwhelming majority of our tweets fall on deaf ears.” There are only few people who use Twitter effectively and get some kind of results. I know you might disagree because everybody is talking about how great the Social Media is, and how everybody is a Social Media expert. But the truth is that Twitter is waste of your time, people are busy they don’t have time to click on your twits or retweet your post. Most of the people on twitter are spammers they just promote their own product, or promote the product of their clients. Just to give you some personal statistics, I had photography account with over 5,000 followers. When I twitted any post only about 10 people actually click on it, and maybe 2 retweets . Don’t waste your time with Twitter, Join community of real people who care about you and your product. In a long run you will be more successful.

When I launched one of my apps – write.fm twitter was an invaluable tool with thousands of tweets promoting the app. It all depends on who you follow and who follows back. I only have around 800 followers but when I post something they are very generous in both responding and promoting. The trick is to not bother about marketing or promotion. That will happen by itefl if you dedicate enough time to creating a real and valuable presence.

Hey Anthony, agree with you, as with any tool you have to know how to use it correctly, most people spam twitter, but I see you are one of the few who takes the advantage and use it with power,

so true, I’ve done twitter campaign and success are slim. Reason being is that twitter require refining of relationships bet followee and follower and that takes time. Its not the same marketing tool as it was ages ago.

I’d just like to point out that retweets are only one metric to watch. Just because something doesn’t get retweeted a lot doesn’t mean that it wasn’t seen or that an action wasn’t taken (like clicking a link in a tweet) because of it.
Of course, we’d all love if people were RT’ing and sharing our info with their followers, but that’s not everything to Twitter.

I am marketing with Twitter and honestly speaking, it is not yielding any result.I think Twitter will become just a family conversation network in no distant time. I am looking for alternatives and thanks for your post.
